Children's Safe Drinking Water

The power of clean

The P&G Children's Safe Drinking Water Program (CSDW) uses an innovation that P&G created to transform potentially deadly water into clean, drinkable water. To date, the program has been implemented in more than 75 countries and has committed to delivering 15 billion liters of clean drinking water by 2020. Over 10 billion litres have been provided to date - most of it in Africa.

Clean water not only helps to save lives, it transforms lives.

Nearly one billion people in the world don’t have access to clean drinking water. The P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water (CSDW) Program helps by providing P&G Purifier of Water packets, a water purifying technology developed by P&G and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

One P&G packet quickly turns 10 liters of dirty, potentially deadly water into clean, drinkable water. The packets are provided on a not-for-profit basis and can be used anywhere in the world, including areas affected by natural disaster.

Over the past decade, the program has shared more than ten billion liters of purified drinking water in more than 75 countries, most of this in Africa. We estimate this has prevented millions of days of diarrheal illness and helped save thousands of lives.

CSDW partners with more than 150 organizations to provide water purification packets. The program responds to emergencies such as cholera outbreaks, earthquakes, floods and other natural disasters. CSDW and its partners provide clean drinking water to schools and malnourished children, outreach to mothers in health clinics and support to people living with HIV/AIDS.
